Steak and Sweet Potato Fries
I've been going through all my cooking magazines and picking out recipes that look good. There are a fair number that I would like to try. Hopefully I will get a chance over the next weeks and months. I got the steak marinade recipe from Clean Eating.
Steak
Ingredients:
-Steak
-balsamic rosemary marinadee
1 cup balsamic
3/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup honey
2 tbsp rosemary
1 tbsp garlic powder (or why not use fresh garlic)
2tsp sea salt
1 tsp black pepper
The Steak was really easy. You combine the ingredients for the marinade in a bowl. Then place the steak in a zip lock freezer bag and pour marinade in. Let sit in fridge for 2-6 hours. Then cook on each side about 3-4 minutes. Remove and place on a plate and cover with tin foil for about 5 minutes. Slice and serve.
Sweet Potato Fries
-sweet potato
-egg white
-olive oil
- Spices ( hot pepper flakes, curry powder, cumin)
- Salt
Preheat oven to 400F. Peel the potato and cut into fries. Toss with 1T olive oil and place on a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a bowl, whisk 1 egg white with a fork and add in spices (you can play with the quantities depending on taste, i suggest 1/4-1/2 teaspoon of each) and salt. Poor egg/spice mixture over fries and toss a bit to coat. Then bake for 40 minutes.
These sweet potato fries were the crunchiest I've ever made. I was a bit skeptical about the egg whites, but I definitely recommend it.
